So let's start with today:
Robert got a call from his junior spring ball coach. Good news: He's on a team with almost all of his friends, but one. Bad news: He's a DODGER!!!!
LOL! He never thought he'd be on the Dodgers. It's kind of a running joke. I grew up not liking the Dodgers. Nothing against the Dodgers. All baseball fans have a team they don't like. Practices start next week. He's ready to go!!
Back up 24 hours ago:
We were at the baseball game. Robert had the best night. Since the Padres won 11-3, Robert had a lot of action being a bat boy. The Padres were hitting all over the place. I took over 100 pictures, but hardly any turned out. My mom got some good ones since she was on the same side as Robert. While Robert was in the dugout ready to get the next bat, Tony Gwynn hit a foul ball that bounced once and then landed right into Robert's chin. He's fine. It happened so fast that he couldn't react fast enough. He thinks it's pretty cool. After he was hit, Adrian Gonzalez came over to see if he was ok and the medic in the dugout checked him out too.
He also was asked by a fan (around his age) if she could take her picture with him while he was working the sideline. I thought that was hysterical! Dave and I were watching him walk down the line and stop and the girl put her arm around him and took a picture.
Towards the end of the game a bunch of people in front of us started to clap and get up and then we noticed that Luiz Gonzalez was leaving. He was there to watch the D-backs.
Robert really liked hanging out in the Padres dugout. Some players won't give you the time of day, but all of these players were so nice and talked and joked with the bat boys.
This experience being a bat boy was so much fun and Robert is so honored that he was asked to be one. He's looking forward to possibly doing it again next year.
Here's a couple of pictures I was able to get last night.
Tomorrow is the Aztec's last game. It's a home game. Then this Saturday they are having a tournament at 11:00 and if they win they'll play later in the afternoon.
